Part 1 - Introduction

I believe that a basic education and the ability to comprehend facts without bias are all that are required to understand this site and to understand Islam. I think that this will become self-evident as one reads the contents of the site.

Due to a variety of reasons, many Canadians are now curious about Islam. As I am a Canadian citizen who has considerable experience with and knowledge of the religion, I have decided to add my voice to the discourse. Nothing said on this site is illegal. I do not support efforts to incite hatred or violence towards Muslims. I am fully aware of the fact that there are many good people who call themselves Muslims. In fact, I have known many such people. I despise Islamic ideology and its accompanying religion, not Muslims as individuals.

Having embraced Islam in all sincerity, then renounced it due to disbelief and disgust, I have learned a great deal about the religion. I am not speaking out of ignorance, nor am I an unstable person. I am an educated, respected, law-abiding member of my community and have drawn definite conclusions about Islam. I do not believe that the fundamental claims of the Islamic religion are true. I believe that the Islamic religion is the fabricated creation of an extremely sick and corrupted man named Muhammad who lived in 7th Century Arabia. Are you aware that the penalties for blasphemy and simply choosing to leave the Islamic religion (Apostacy) are barbaric to the extreme? All of the major schools of Islamic jurisprudence (Sharia Law), actually mandate the death penalty for apostacy. That being the case, what I have just said would get me killed “in Islam.” This should be considered utterly depraved by all civilized people. Being an apostate of Islam myself, my reasons for being concerned about these issues should be obvious. Many Canadian citizens have left Islam and many more will continue to do so. The book – Leaving Islam: Apostates Speak Out, edited by Ibn Warraq, documents the experience of several ex-Muslims from various nations and is an excellent resource for those wanting to learn more about these issues.

In my opinion, all Canadian citizens who care about the well-being of our country ought to become aware of the legal and social implications of the Islamic religion. It is of the utmost importance to keep our secular civil society strong and its laws dominant, never allowing Sharia law to gain any legal foothold whatsoever. Also, Islamic activists are currently attempting to severely limit Canadians’ right to free speech – essentially for the purpose of preventing any critical discussion of Islam’s texts and tenets, its prophet Muhammad, and its legal and political aspirations. Under the guise of “Islamophobia,” Islamists hope to stifle Canadians right to free speech. Thus far, the Islamists have had little success furthering their agenda thanks to the hard work of many dedicated individuals and groups.

In the following chapters I will make it abundantly clear why Islam is not “the religion of peace” as it is commonly called, but it is primarily a religion of “injustice, intolerance, hatred, and violence.” The fact is, if I were to say about Muslims what the Qur'an says about non-Muslims, I would be arrested for hate speech. The Qur'an largely preaches discrimination, death, and imposition of its dogma on everyone. Certainly some Muslims will be offended by such statements, but frankly, so what?  Judaism and Christianity, the world’s two other major monotheistic religions, have had to face the harshest of scrutiny and criticism for several hundred years which continues to this day. Islam must not be granted any special privileges or be exempt from such treatment – the implications are of tremendous importance.

Here is a recent statement from a group of Bangladeshi apostates living in the UK explaining the reasons why they have abandoned Islam:

One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. He must not be given to lust, he must not be a sexual pervert, and he must not be a rapist, a highway robber, a war criminal, a mass murderer or an assassin. One who claims to be a messenger of God must have a superior character. He must stand above the vices of the people of his time. Yet Muhammad’s life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives (Qur'an 33:50). He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way...

The statement continues,

Muhammad was a narcissist, like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin. He was astute and knew how to manipulate people, but his emotional intelligence was less evolved than that of a 6-year-old child. He simply could not feel the pain of others. He brutally massacred thousands of innocent people and pillaged their wealth. His ambitions were big and as a narcissist he honestly believed he is entitled to do as he pleased and commit all sorts of crimes and his evil deeds are justified.

For the record, I am currently not a religious person, though philosophical and spiritual matters do interest me.
